Noble House Store
Noble House Distribution Ltd opened in 1986 with one van, delivering Hygaard sandwiches. Today, we service over 275 customers in greater Edmonton and offer almost 2000 SKUs in a wide variety of categories.
From that one van and sandwiches in 1986, we expanded rapidly over next 20 years: adding more product categories, hiring many more employees, and our customer list grew substantially. Before long, Noble House was doing full DSD (direct to store delivery) in greater Edmonton with nine truck routes trucks and 14 employees.
The original owner of Noble House Distribution Ltd then joined with a couple other prominent western Canadian distributors to form PRIDCorp, a buying group that helped independent distributors find new products and expand their sales territory. The group eventually grew to 43 distributors across the country.
In 2008, the original owner decided to semi-retire and sold the company to Premium Brands Holdings Corporation. Premium Brands is a publicly traded company which owns a broad range of leading specialty food manufacturing and differentiated food distribution businesses with operations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nevada and Washington State. The Company services over 22,000 customers and its family of brands and businesses includes Grimm’s, Freybe, Pillar’s, Hygaard, Quality, McSweeney’s, Audrey’s, Centennial Foodservice, Harlan Fairbanks and many more.
As part of the acquisition, we became Noble House Foods and a large portion of our DSD business was transferred to our new sister company, Direct Plus Food Group, which specialized in corporate convenience store distribution. Noble House Foods shifted our business model to pre-sell and delivery and moved our focus to independent business. Our regrowth was centred around oilfield camps, specialty grocery stores and other niche markets.
With all the new business, we outgrew our warehouse in 2012 and moved into a 10,700 square foot facility , which was part of the original Hygaard sandwich plant.
In February 2015, we acquired two corporate DSD routes in Edmonton and the rural areas north and east of the city. In April 2015, we become a member of United Distribution Network and are now part of a nation-wide group of distributors sharing partnerships with suppliers and corporate chains.
